'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match ended with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear following the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range shot from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess immediately slammed home the rebound before racing off toward the crowd to mark the goal, with supporters swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result completed an extraordinary comeback given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the latter period. During the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win secured a fourth-round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for having a go from that range," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right wing-back after Orient changed shape. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way the underdogs played positively.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they know how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It requires a tough attitude and attention just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has rapidly done the same in south Wales. At the London club he linked up again with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at lower division Salford, before he departed Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without much intensity. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that growth for club and country, performing well for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including both legs games against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This represents an incredible journey for the player from the local area in his hometown, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his father, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

The player's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "This turned out fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I thought I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a minibus driven by academy staff, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, Ronald, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to interact with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the next one out of the minibus and driving. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
